Hodgepodge..

Seb and I proudly sporting our 3D glasses
for a gallery show we checked out.

This mural is of a homeless man I see around Caen.
I have been quite up close to him outside of work a few times
and I can tell you that the details do him justice. Quite a drawing.
Down the street is a psychiatrique hospital.
The sign reads "Hospital. Emergency Exit. No parking."
Someone wrote with marker in English,  "Hospital. Emergency Exit from hell. No parking."
That's bad....

And completely unrelated but I'm putting it here anyways....

This is in the courtyard behind the school where I work.
Nothing special, just a courtyard.
The building with the staircase is used by the Catholic nuns as a home for young women entering the Faith.

But what gets me every time, and I really mean every time.....
Check out the date. This building dates back from 1624.
That's some old stone my friends.
Those walls could tell some serious stories....

Chamonix Mont-Blanc

Stephane invited us to tag along for his business meeting
happening in Chamonix- Mont- Blanc last weekend.
It's about a 9 hour drive and if you cross the mountains you are in Switzerland and Italy.

It's mostly known for winter sports,
but we discovered there was lots to do and see in summer as well.

Here's our hotel, the front of it. Our room is in the back.
Seb is on our balcony taking in some air after a long but stressfree drive. On the side, hidden from view is the Arveyron river. We could hear it, but couldn't see it from our room.
After screwing our heads back on,
we took a nice long walk get over the car ride.

 Cute little Chalet.....

On to Saturday ....
Here's the hotel where we met Stephane's clients for coffee.
The swanky entrance to the bar and restaurant.
And wouldn't you know it, I also ran into some parents of one of my students at Notre Dame.
The world is soo small sometimes.

Seb and I bummed around downtown while Dad was hard at work.
Then we got out of our city clothes, meeting finished,
 and got to exploring.

We found lots of cool bones, horns and teeth which made their way back with us.
Who needs pricey souvenirs when you can just bring back skeletal remains.

The river originates from the snow of the mountains above.
We drank the water and lived to tell. I've never seen such icy blue clear water.

After dinner we went for one last walk before turning in.

We were hoping the train would pass over while we were in the tunnel, but no such luck.
We did come across some graffiti though.

Yes, we just had that much fun!
It was a great trip.

Fun filled days in Breda....

Stephane and I scampered away for a little 3 day getaway to Holland.
Sebastian was busy biking 40km a day and being doted on by Nana at night, so the big bed, no cat and no worries was soo nice.
A fun covered passage right around the corner from our hotel.
It was around 7pm and we had the place to ourselves.
What's not to like about Spidey and the crocodile.
These two chairs measured about 3 inches high along with the wire tree.
This was one of my favorites things. Just attached to someone's front door.

This playground had a polar bear and his friend the seal.

Funny transparencies from the menu of the bagel shop.

Ooohh....cappucinio....
 Ooohhh..pistachio custard.

These were hand painted wine boxes.
I'd like to be given one of these!
Don't know what this sign is all about,
but I like the bearded man.

That was one small passage.

How many different pairs of shoes have you seen strung up like this?
I think this is my 3rd pair.
Check out this DHL delivery bike. Nice.
And a super stylish hair salon window.
