Guernsey for a day

Inside of this pub. The arched window behind me is on the 1st floor to the left of the lantern. We were invited to "pop over" to the bar to place our order. With his accent and the speed I needed a few minutes to understand what we he was talking about.

The downtown pedestrian shopping district.

I had forgotten about all the CTC cameras.

We took a bus around the island. In the "normal" working class neighborhoods, businesses and homes/cottages alike had the UK flag out everywhere.

This pic below is an old weather station with a thermometer and barometer.
You can still see the record sheets in the upper left door.

Blue mailboxes instead of red like in England.

Window shopping....

Lots of little alleyways and staircases.
I saw some houses dated from the 1600's et 1700's,
all of them with a name. Just like "Maas' Hideaway".

This stone carving was right on the side of the building on a main drag. I have no idea what is says or why it's there but sure looks like it's been there for centuries.

Fish and chips with poorly advertised "mushy peas". These were not mushy at all, no mashing, no flavor, no butter, just peas. The fish and chips were good though.

Yellow instead of red phone booths. Lots of phone booths still on the island.
Wonder if people still use them.

And
the amazing views.

The port where we arrived after a rocky 1 1/2 hour boat ride.

With some of the people in my class. This guy is 90 years old. Walks with a cane but kept up, on and off the bus, walked as much as the rest of us. Hope I'm that fit at 90.
