The little men

Seb invited two of his friends to the house for a few nights.

They did manage to get the tent up without too much trouble.
It was so warm that someone suggested sleeping just as is. Without the brown cover. Well, they may have had more of a breeze, but everything was damp when they woke up. I put on the brown cover for the second night of dry sleep.

Boys being boys, they didn't mind too much and for the little bit that they sept (our neighbors had a party the same night as well, smoke machine, pink flamingoes and lots of bad music) they were just fine.

A little tasting of the black raspberries.
Almost ready, but not quite.

 And of course...teenagers being teenagers,
they at one point left us in the dust.

So Sunday it was so blistering hot, we went to the river. Same as we've done in the past.
This time however, they went IN the river. It was a spot we'd never been to before so the current was less strong.

And seeing as Stef and I were together, I figured if someone slipped and broke their leg on a boulder, I wouldn't panic as much as if I was just by myself with the boys.

They LOVED it.
Push ups in the water, dunking of heads, wading around.
 They had a blast.

 Coasting down with the current....

It wasn't until everyone got out and I said, "brush off your legs, you've got all kinds of stuff on them." And realised to my horrow that the "stuff" were actually mini leeches that had got a free ride on the boys. Nothing too bad, nothing stuck, rinshed them off and took a good cold shower with the garden hose when we got back to the house to ensure that they didn't have anything hiding in any deep dark private places.
It was still pretty funny. I couldn't help but think of the film Stand By Me. Thank God however the leeches the boys had were little pencil lines and not some big juicy maneaters
or I probably would have fainted!
