Long weekends….

Our neighborhood wanderer…
nicknamed "Tom le raser" aka Shaved Tom.
He has this wierd patch of super short hair all the way down his back.
Mange, accident with the razor, naturally short….
one can only wonder and make sure to wash your hands
thoroughly after petting.

Super cute and super playful.
Makes it hard to come home to super whinning Texas.

Grandpa's birdhouse is still awaiting some takers….

My irises are up as well as the mint….

rhubarb….
which I picked a bit and made into a puree for dessert…
it was goooood.

I uncovered the garden and dug it up.
This shot is about 2 hours worth of work.

Seeing as I have all the wrong tools (can you say a four pronged pitchfork for hay with a bent prong), soil which hasn't been touched in months and months and leftover potatoes from last year which had to be picked out….the whole job took the entire afternoon.

Then seeing as I was giving such TLC to this patch of dirt,
why not add some compost that isn't really ready to be put in the ground?
I did pick out the sticks and orange peels, but everything else went in.
  Can't hurt right?

Our Christmas tree from a few years back is happy
and healthy and has lots of new growth….

unlike our dear apple tree which looks dead as a doornail.
No buds, no leaves, no nothing.
(And no it's not due to the forest of untrimmed grass around it…)

See the landing strip of brown? That is the lawn mower marks from last week. It was too wet to cut this weekend, so stay tuned for round two of the never ending battle of the grass next time.

Stephane mounted our "Blow Oscar" folk art piece from RA Miller over the weekend.
Just waiting to find the right spot for it.

Our all natural lawn mower which will will be in our back field at the end of the week. We woke up this morning to find Indian right outside our kitchen window. A bit of coaxing and he found his way back to the proper field. Clever little pony….

Bartell Family Singers a dit…

That looks like a lot of work! But so rewarding - what a great garden space!
