London

January seems like forever ago.
So, without further adieu, here are some picks from my trip
with 4 classes of 5th graders for four days.

Our first stop after arriving in London was the Natural History Museum.
Free admission and one of my favorite places to visit.

                                                                   Union Jack pride.....

Lunch break (picnic on the Thames river) with a fellow English teacher.

We're up on the Tower Bridge...

Nutball kid on the super clean floor.
You have to love his enthousiasme though:)

Looking at the Tower of London.

Looking at the Tower bridge from inside the Tower of London.

                             One of our classes......

Love the distortion of the old glass window ...

This and that....

There were a lot of greyhound dogs in the city. And almost all of them were decked out in these fleece type coats. Very cute. The pelicans were in St James park as we walked through, the kids loved them.

The marching band accompaning the guards
which will relieve the other guards stationed up at Buckingham Palace.

A nice iron plate and really good looking pastries.

So the shots below were from 8AM in the morning, not much was open yet.
This food hygiene sign was in the window of the Kebab place which was closed.

It was also ranked in by the public as one of the best kebabs....

But what struck me, was the fact that the meat was in place, turning in front of the heaters at 8AM while the place was closed. Don't they refridgerate those things??? Or is it just 24/7 heat kills the bacteria??

Below was a charcoal delivery, just sitting on the sidewalk.
A wee bit covered, but I thought it dicey as it was raining that morning.
Big city crazy folk:)

Some great glass work to let light into the cellars below....

Here's the pest control guy and his falcon at Trafalgar Square,
just waiting for a snack.

Our hotel....

The kitchen was in the "basement" which the staff could access from outside.

The whole block was hotels just like ours.
Old boarding houses I assume. Ours was fairly outdated.

This was the view from the back of the hotel on a dreary morning.

The door above was right outside of my room.
It joined the two "sides" of the hotel. On the other side of this door was like a 14 inch step.
Wonder how many people fell when going through this door....

                                                             Garbage pick up....so classy.

A sampling of the different styles of housing I saw in London.

I love the bricks for the fireplace.

Lack of space....build some seating.

Nice view of the skyline on our last night in London.

And it wouldn't be a trip to London
without a trip to a pub with the colleagues......
