So we went to Brest on the Atlantic coast last weekend,
a four hour drive.
Along the way.....a gigantic tower of fast food trying to draw people in.
It's been here for 30 years. Stephane stopped for coffee and got all the details from the owner:)
To see these guys, part of a French band, named Gwendoline. This picture makes me laugh because they are really not complicated guys. They sing about retirement (or lack there of), anti-establishment, working class stuff.
Our autographed album, especially love the cigarette.
Also couldn't pass on a t-shirt, still waiting to be washed:)
Here's our hotel and the club is in the basement, very convenient, thank you Stephane.
Staircase shot from our 5th floor room.
We drove out of town about 20 minutes to hit the beach.
Probably the furtherest wwest in France I've been.
Back to the city to visit the castle. Ooups, part of it's an overpriced Military Museum (which we did not visit) and the other part is closed to the public. The French Marines / Navy have possession. Disappointing but the view was nice.
Military boats docked along the castle.
If you're interested in the history of it....
This was stenciled on the sidewalk. Sidewalk NOT a Poopwalk.
It's a play on words. Trottoir means sidewalk and Crotte means dogpoop,
very funny if you read French.
Getting some excercise after our long drive.
Have no idea what this thing was originally, something naval I'm guessing,
now turned into sculpture.
Intriguing gated off tunnel.....
A concert hall with a cool mural.
And there you have it,
Brest in a very small nutshell.
