Le Vieux Putanges

The second of our stops at graveyards.....
This church is mentioned as far back as the 13th century.
The exhisting one was rebuilt on the remains of the first one in the 16th century.

There were two properies butted up against this church and cemetery.
They must have been breeding dogs or something because all of a sudden a dog started barking and then another and then by the end it sounded like 30.

This is the entrance to a domaine which buts up the the cemetery which is off of this photo to the immediate right.

 This gate is soo amazing.
It's noted in a book I have from the library.
The "Lords of Beaumais" resided here and was a resting place
for tired prilgrims walking to Mont Saint Michel.

This is a shot looking through the gate....
until the hounds came running and chased us away.
Nice little courtyard to house the half dozen or so building hidden away....

Old MacDonald

We were in the cemetery right
across the street from this amazing old farm.

There's also this panel stating that a local artist painted this farm.
From a different angle, but still looks  like the one.

I didn't get a good shot of the overall together,
you'll have to settle for the more interesting outbuildings.

In the back through this old opening you could see this old press.

Cooling off.....

We finished our day after a nice long hike near the river.

R.I.P.

These shots are from the first of three cemeteries that we visited.
It's quite populare here to put photos of the deceased on the headstones.
I think it's completely cheezy.

This one took the cake however.
I've never seen a tomb so carzy, bling bling ever.
Felt like Liberace could have been buried hère. Just that over the top.

Adventure day....

Seb and I wandered around the countryside yesterday.
Started out with the organic egg farm. I bought a dozen eggs (size XL) for 5€.
At .41€ an egg, not sure I'll be buying them from him everyweek,
but it is nice to support the local producteurs.
Super nice guy, running his one man show along with his 800 chickens.

This was our next stop at a boat landing where we wandered around .....
my yard should look soo nice.

This is in the same town as the boat landing.
This little path leads to the "lavoir" where you would go to scrub your laundry back in the day.
It's the red roof tiled building (on the right behind the lamp post)
set down at the river level.

And thèse shots are walking away from the lavoir up to the main street.
 Soo cute.

So here we are on the main street.
Check out this little house with the two skylights.
It looked like it would be two rooms total not counting the attic.

Here's a close up...See those little windows under the skylights?
They were soo small!

Here's a water pump that was on the sidewalk along the way.

Something smeels fishy...

After weeding along the house and wondering what that wierd smell was....

I discovered a nice hedgehog carcus about 10 inches long.
Just the needles and the head were left. The head is in the bottom right hand side of the photo with some of the white bone showing. If you look really close, you'll see the magots.
Yum, and I was kneeling right next to it.
Good times.

Mother's Day

Our Mother's Day table complete with
Grandpa Elmer's and Grandma Dorthy's dishes.
Stephane cooked, what more could I ask for.
