Burning stuff….cleaning house…
I'll give you three guesses….
Yes, the previous owners had stashed their outhouse toliet seat cover in our shed.
They really never threw anything away.
Seb's proud find. We're thinking it is a mole skeleton….
Had some pretty amazing claws and such.
How we dress for breakfast.
Rubber boots, P. J.'s, bathrobe, fleece jacket and knit hat.
It was a bit nippy in the kitchen that morning (and every morning).
Indian, our neighbors' pony.
Our latest super eco-lawn mower, eating his way through our back field.
And on our way back to Caen we stumbled across this bakery. I had bought some bread from the organic store in Caen and happened to see a sign for the actual bakery on the road back from Chenedouit. Field trip!
We happened to show up (she is open Sat and Wed from 4:30-7:30) and by chance it was open. Super cool, we were given the full tour. One room mind you, but the baker (Isabelle) showed us her wood fire oven with turning oven floor, explained all the amazing kinds of bread she makes and was nice to boot. We walked away with a whole wheat muti-seed, a kamut loaf and three pieces of apple tart. All still warm…..That made my weekend.
Did I mention the bakery was on a picturesque property and it was sunny out? Did I mention how happy it made me to speak with the person who actually made my bread, to see the workings of an old school one woman show bakery and pay the person who actually made my bread? That's no wonder bread folks.
