Mad dash to Paris

24 hours in Paris to renew Seb's passeport.                                                                                                  Here's some eye candy....

This stretch is called "le viaduc des arts" and you find galleries and artist workshops, fancy smanshy jewlery and open sewing workshops. A bit of everything. It was a train line built on a viaduc. It's now been transformed into what you see here with a linear park on the top.

A bit surprised to see a boutique sellling harps and only harps.
But again, it's Paris.

At first I thought these were tapered candels.
Upon further inspection, these are rods of glass. It was a glass workshop.
We didn't have the chance to go in, but the suspended pieces looked amazing.

A shop specializing in horn instruments...

Giant lolly pop....

A sign outside this exterminator shop, named Doctor Cockroach.
Oh, brought me back to my Bradley Exterminating collège years.

Quick shot of part of our apt/hotel.                                                                                                          Luxury, there was a dishwasher....                                                                                                                Our bed was soo comfortable, too bad a still slept like crap.

Shot of the Metro this morning on our way to the US Embassy.
Yes, it was like 7AM and still dark.

So, we walked around and checked out the crazy designer clothing boutiques.

These super ugly Christian Dior rubber shoes...900€                                                                               Modeled with the suit pictured above.

This was an amazing boutique, chocolaté shop we think,                                                                         which had all these shaved off organ pipes as décoration.                                                                          Again, nothing was open it was 7:45 in the morning, but that's our guess.

A bit of music

Last week, some friends of ours invited us over for a "mini" concert.
Their house is directly on the beach, hence the last photo from their front patio.
The trio played the trumpet, accordian and violon.
We were around 20 people sharing the great atmosphère and music.
A nice way to spend an afternoon....

Protesting....

What did we do on our 1st day of vacation?
Protested of course.
(Maybe I am actually turning French.)

My 1st ever protest on French soil.
Marching against the new retirement reform,
pushing back the legal retirement age to 64.

Estimates said we were 30,000 people marching.
