New Year's day at the Beach

I can't believe how tall Sebastian is next to us.

Yes, it was rather sunny for a change                                                                                                          (hence all of our squinting) and quite windy (nothing new there) hence my crazy hair.

Our album cover shot.....

Ho, ho, ho Merry Christmas

Forget about presents,  Christmas here is about food!                                                                          Sorry baby Jesus.

Our Christmas table.                                                                                                                                    Mom's quilted table runner, Grandpa and Grandma's dishes,                                                             my beeswax candle holders.

A first for us this year. Razor clams....Salt them to clean them, then steam them, then pass in the oven with breadcrumbs, butter and herbs.  SOO good. What isn't good smothered in melted butter?

Cleaning the scallops....
passed them in a pan...

Then added cream and cooked mushrooms                                                                                               then passed them briefly in the oven.

Happy chefs.....

Shrimp and crab claws...

And oysters. Which I didn't eat this year and no throwing up                                                                    for me this Christmas.  The best present ever!

Our bread bowl which is from Mom's maple tree in the back year.

Chocolate Christmas cake.

Seb's Pappy slippers, not a gift, just standard fare at Annick's.

Annick's Christmas cake. Pear and caramel, yummy.

Then off to New Year's Eve....I made buckwheat blini to which we added.....

Smoked tofu and spicy peanut sauce,
smoked saumon,
butter/blue cheese with radishes,
cucumbers and cream and white bread toasts, polenta circles with sundried tomatoes and pesto, smoked ham and I don't remember, and cream cheese and sliced cherry tomates.

And for Seb's fiesta, he made a Tiramisu for 15 poeple. He was nice enough to make sure there were three little extra dishes for us to sample the day before. Excellent.....
