My normal working month consists of 18 days.
By the end of this month with legal holidays and various unexpected forced school cancellations
 (thank you Donald Trump)...
I had an extra five days off for the two months.
What's not to like about May and June in France?

a weekend in Nantes

We just got back from a great three day weekend visiting with Stephane's cousin in Nantes.
Since this was our second visit we bypassed some of the more touristy sightseeing stuff and played it a bit more low key. Sebastian's six month old cousin was super low key and happy too.

We rented an electric boat and cruised the river for three hours. In spite of cooler temps and a bit of drizzle at the end, our picnic cruise was a grand success.

The two cousins getting their last minute captain instructions.

Chênedouit revival

After months of not being able to cut the grass...
too wet, too busy, we finally made it happen in mid-May.

And ooh, was there grass.
LUSH.... jungle like beautiful grass.
A few toads and one snake had moved in.

Four days of on and off  weed wacking and raking.
Let's not forget to mention the bbq's and cocktails as well.
Afterall, it's only grass. It will be back.
It beats us every time.

So above Seb is going to town as you can tell by the freshly fallen green stuff all around him.

And poof, after raking it all up and waiting a day,
Seb was dabbing.

Keeping me company on my last day there for breakfast was
 Indian, our neighbor's poney.

The birdhouse that Dad give Seb is still holding,
although I don't believe any birds actually use it.
It sure looks nice though.

The rhubarbe keeps giving and columbine are in flower.
After all my hard work digging up my garden over Easter, I decided to just cover it for the summer, since I'm going to be gone and not have the time to plant and care for anything this summer.
A bit of a let down, but I'm sure come mid-August, I'll be thanking myself.

Here's the bicycle I scored at the dump.
Perfect condition except for a broken back light on the bumper.
I'll be swapping out this one as my new everyday bike for the city.
It's just that nice.

I'm always presently surprised by what we find in the garbage.

Look at that lush "country kaki" lawn.
Geez, yet another year we hesitate to open a golf course.
It's just that lush.
