Feuguerolles Bully

Stumbled upon this cemetery …..

love the skull and crossbones…

These two dated from 1853.

detail shot of the ceramic markers
that plotted off the tomb below

love that brick work

The information below was posted at the entrance of the cemetery. It states that according to the writing on the grave (actual grave above) we know that several of the people buried here were decimated by the plague epidemic of 1638 which wiped out the majority of the village population.

the buildings in the background are an old flour mill…
Jolly good stuff !

While the boys were away...

  I went exploring….
found a spot a friend had mentioned about 14km from Caen.
I'd never been before and was pleasantly surprised.

I'll have to come back with my bike.
I walked 5 km in an hour but would have went further on bike.

The vélorail…sounds like a plan for Lynn and Mark's visit….

Found a couple of places that just need a bit of fixing up….

Found this shot ….same spot, different vantage point…
postage date says 1917, a mere hundred years ago. Crazy stuff !
I love the nutballs in the boat.

Here's a shot of "Le Moulin de Bully". The mill of Bully.
The half circle showing in front of the building is the water wheel which must have been used to power the transformation of the grain into flour.

 Postcards of the mill.
(Also showing the church and cemetery from the previous post).
The stamp on this one says 1905 ? unless it's 1915 and the 1 is really really hard to see. But due to the fact that the tree in the bottom right corner  is cut to pieces, I'd say it was taken after the shot on the bottom.

This one is dated 1908. Then again, what do I know.
Cool to see the then and now though.

Our new library…

So the shot above I found on the internet. Don't be fooled. After looking for a place to park for nearly half an hour we walked over and the place was PACKED with people.
I felt like I was at a shopping mall or an aeroport.
Perhaps it will grow on me….who knows.

In anycase, Seb sure liked the aviator/pod looking thingys…..

Sunny day at the beach

Checking out the loot….
