Tuesday night...

We went to see El Cid the other night. A comic tragedy from the 1600's reinterpreted.
Don't know it? Well, neither did I…..
It was very funny…four accordians, some bow saw playing
and lots of imaginiative costume changes.

We do get out sometimes…..

Time flies…..

Application letters and open houses for middle schools,  recovering armchairs and couches, new armchairs and a new couch, purging of stuff, work, work and more work. School, ironing, driving, stress, soccer, dentist visits, girlie doctor visits, blood tests, potential art project propositions, lunch with girlfriends, getting out of jury duty phone calls.

Nothing bloody exciting, but hey, life is like that sometimes. And in the past two weeks we have seen two double rainbows on two different occasions. So, I don't complain too much. Because double rainbows really make you almost get into car accidents. They are just that good. (And we are on vacation again in 2 1/2 weeks, hopefully no hospital visits this time.)

Friday nights in front of the TV

Don't you just want to slap her?
I had all but forgotten about Nellie Olsen. And then we saw an episode where she helps some boy cheat at school. Not just any boy, but the headmistress' son. Then it comes out that Sebastian's own mother cheated in spelling in the 5th grade. (Hence my frequently mispledddded words.)

Last weekend, it was about Mary (the blind sister). Yes, I am sensitive, Yes, I cried at the latest Star Wars film, and you bet I cried last Friday night when Mary thought she was getting her vision back.

In case you are looking for that good old fashioned moral lesson for all ages, SEBASTIAN IS HOOKED, COMPLETELY HOOKED, Little House on the Prarie. Even dubbed, I highly recommend it. And it goes good with homemade pizza. Makes you remember how lucky you are to not have to mill your own flour. Or to not have to buy your flour from Nellie's mom at the General Store. Or to have an actual working gas oven. Oh, life is grand……

Makes me think of Saturday nights with my parents and grandparents watching the Golden Girls. Oh yeah…..

spring ?

The view from our bedroom window last week. So inviting, so encouraging. Wake up! wake up! It's a new day! Way better than an alarm. It did smell a bit like the ocean though, so that was somewhat agreable. Made you feel somewhat connected to the planet, instantly.
And since then the sun has been out in force and we only have 5 days to wait until we can officially say spring. I for one am ready.

our house guest

Seeing as we have such LUSCIOUS grass for the taking, look at how it is just swaying there in the wind, we invited our neighbor to plant his goat in our yard for the weekend. Well, it stuck around for approximatly 1.75 hours before he pulled his stake out of the ground and wandered back across the road to his own turf, dogs and chickens.

So, seeing as Easter is right around the corner, if you are looking for some succulent REAL grass to fill those baskets, don't hesitate. We have more than enough to share.

ooh the joy of vacation….

So I have been noticing a pattern. In the past few years, all of my spills, injuries and what nots have happened while being on vacation. And being on vacation while still at home. No exotic travels, no skiing in the Alps. The last vacation, three weeks ago was no exception.  A little accident with the cat and my bed, paf, 5 stiches.  I'll let you invent your own details, it will be more exciting that way. Rest assured, I am back to my old stunning self, smiling and joking about our cat.
