FOOT SOCCER FOOT SOCCER FOOT

So the weekend was spent watching some fantastic soccer.
(Even from a non soccer fan like myself.)
With over 20 professional teams from all over France: Lyon, Monaco, Montpellier, Bordeaux
…..and Paris to name a few.
It sure was a great change and welcomed challenge for our small team to play against some talented and technically strong national teams.

Here's the other team from Caen which qualified as well.
Our arch enemy, Stade Malherbe, who we beat in our first game of the weekend.
Seb is pumped!

With our Normandy flag….
The parents are pumped!

The second day of the tournament we faced off againt Paris Saint-Germain. The kids were totally intimidated (I would have been too!) and lost their first game againt them 4-0.
For the second and last game of the tournament, still against Paris, they sucked it up and defended their ground, loosing by a very respectable 1-0. After all, if you are out of the tournament and up againt the best, at least have fun and say you played against the best!
1-0 we were very proud…they gave it their all.

Paris and The ASPTT

Did I mention the ball for the final match was delivered by a helicopter?
Can  you say, danger, warning, super fast spinning blades???
Really…..over the top, really.

Yes, us Mom's were totally pumped,
and no I don't paint my face for all of Seb's games.
It was Mother's Day here after all.

And those Dad's were equally pumped,
because well, they're guys and they're just always like that.

The smoke and flying sparkly paper thingies
for the awards ceremony.

And after a super effort and emotional weekend,
Seb still finished with a smile.

French camping….in style

Our soccer weekend started by checking into our campground.
Alright, so we cheated a bit and stayed in a mobil home, french style.

The view from our mini size trailer…..

The kitchen shot….

The family shot….
(note one of the two bedrooms in the background)

The heated pool shot.
Technically yes, they could call it heated, but apparently it wasn't all that warm. Only Seb and one other teammate went for the plunge.
A bit of water massage after the 2 hour drive from Caen.

The parent  shot.
A bit of liquid massage also in store for the parents.
Some of the parents massaged their windpipes and stomaches until 4am.
I was in bed by 11, Stef held on until midnight.

P.S. The kiddies where sleeping at host families for the weekend. The local soccer teams graciously wined and dined and lodged and showered our players in their homes for the full tournament experience. Seb's host family had like 6 bedrooms and an enormous kitchen. (Wait till you see the pics…good thing he has a good head on his shoulders, because he has to come back to his apt. in Caen….)
Just so you don't think we are totally irresponsible parents.
